by Rick Riordan Series books 375 pages
Poseidon, Eathershaker, Stormbringer, Father of Horses. Hail, Preseus Jackson, Son of the Sea God. The quote is on page 126. The quote from the book explains that the main character, Percy Jackson, is not just a demigod, but also the son of Poseidon, the Greek god of the sea. The quote also explains very well that this book is about Greek mythology and explains the most important thing about Percy Jackson; he is the sea gods son.
Percy Jackson is a troubled kid, but that not all he is. Hes also part of a powerful race called demigods. Being the son of one of the Big Three, hes more powerful then any of the other demigods whose father isnt Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades. As soon as Percy comes along Zeuss master lightning bolt is stolen and Zeus blames Poseidon that he had Percy steal it for him. Percy must now go on a quest to the underworld where it is believed to be. He and his two friends, Grover and Annabeth, must find the bolt before the summer solstice which is in ten days. Ill tell you this, Percy and his friends receives the lightning bolt from the underworld, but you need to read the book to find out if they get the bolt back on time and to find out who was the real lightning thief. Percy Jackson is my favorite character because hes the main character and the hero of the story. There are many things that Percy has done, but I think the most important is when he defeated Ares, the Greek god of war, in a battle. He made Ares surrender and cower back to Olympus.
Its like when my cousin, Tino, got in a fight with a guy that was bigger than him and won. The lesson I learned from all of it is that just because someone is bigger than you are you shouldnt have to be afraid of them. I also learned that if you are the child of the Zeus, Poseidon, or Hades then have a good chance of defeating some of the other gods of Olympus.
This book reminds me of another Greek myth book call The Odyssey. Both books are about a person on a quest. In the Lightning Thief, Percy must go to the underworld to find Zeuss lightning bolt. In The Odyssey, a man must find his way home after fighting in the Trojan War.
