A-List, The

by Zoey Dean
Girl books
243 pages

In the A-List book series by Zoey Dean, the main character, Anna Percy came to Hollywood to find adventure, and that’s exactly what she found. Her boring life back home in New York was not the way she wanted to live.

Anna Percy comes from a wealthy family who lives in the richest part of New York City. The only problem is that her parents are divorced, she never sees her mom who is always traveling, her older sister is in rehab again, and her father lives in Beverly Hills. So when her father calls to ask her if she wants to go live with him for her senior year of high school she agrees. Her main goal is to find adventure. She soon finds a hot new guy, makes some new “friends,” and a whole different lifestyle.

There are a variety of characters in these books. Ben Birnbaum first met Anna on a plane and a week later, they’re boyfriend and girlfriend. But Ben has a much different life than Anna and she is hesitant to get too involved. He, however says he’s in love. Sam Sharpe is the daughter of a movie director and gets everything she could ever want but is dying to have some real friends. Cammie Sheppard is the resident bad girl, she’s been called many names and couldn’t care less. Her main focus is getting her ex-boyfriend back.

In this book you will find many spoiled teenagers who are simply living the good life. There are however, deeper meanings. Anna learns that maybe she should just stop worrying about trying to fix her family’s problems and live her life. Sam discovers that being nice to people pays off and it isn’t so bad to have a real friend. Meanwhile, Anna’s father realizes he shouldn't have left his daughters and is trying to find ways to make it up to them.

Fans of Gossip Girl and The Clique will enjoy this book. It is a book that will blow you away with its inside look on how really stuck up people can be and what they will do to get their way. Al together it is a very good series and I recommend it.
