Do you have any brothers or sisters that you fight with, or even friends? I would think so because almost everyone does, and who wouldnt want to be able to resolve your problems easily because I know I would. This book might not be able to solve all your problems but it may help show how important family is.
This book is about hockey but it is about more than that too. It also shows how parents can impact their kids life and how to deal with change. In this book Brad and TJ are twins who are both all stars at hockey and very popular but TJ goes to a prep school. Their father is having trouble with his job so he cant pay for TJ to go to the prep school so he has to join his brother at Bayview. Neither of them likes this at all because now they have to share the spotlight on the hockey rink. They also have a younger brother who runs away after their father tells him that he and his wife are going to get a divorce. It starts to blizzard and Brad and TJ go out to look for him will they ever find him?
Brad- Goes to high school at Bayview, and is very popular there. Brad also is the star hockey player at Bayview. Brad is smart but not as smart as his brother. I like Brad even though he gets mad easily
TJ- Went to high school at a private prep school called Hayden but his parents were not able to pay for it anymore so he had to transfer to Bayview. Last year he was the best player at his school and was only a sophomore. TJ is very smart but mostly because his father pushes him very hard. TJ is my favorite character he seems easy going and very cool also he is smooth with the ladies.
Jory- Is the nine year old brother of TJ and Brad and used to be a very good kid but once his parents started fighting he got mad easily and got into fights. He had his older brothers sign the slip so that his parents wouldnt know. He also runs away from home during a blizzard because of his parents telling him that they are going to take a break. Jory really looks up to his brothers. Jory is cool when he isnt mad but needs to learn to control his anger.
I think the theme of Face-off is the importance of family. I think this because it shows what happens to the kids when there parents get mad and how it affects them. Also it shows how to get through fights with your family members and how cool family can be if you dont fight.
This book reminds me of Miracle. Mostly because they are both about hockey, but also the team in Miracle has to become a family in order to play well together. Also, they both have people mad at each other and end up getting through it and becoming good friends.
