Breakheart Pass

by Alistair Maclean
178 pages

“Deakin you’re not a man of violence. So put the gun down.” This quote is significant because the story would not have taken place if this conflict never started.
This story BreakHeart Pass written by Alistair Maclean, takes place in the 1810’s where a train called BreakHeart Pass travels to the Rocky Mountains. As the train reaches the middle of the mountains the train stops because of a blizzard gets to strong. Later on a tribe of Native Americans try to aboard the train and they get caught by a U.S. Marshall, John Deakin holds them at gun point. Mean while the driver of the train O’Brien says put down your gun U.S. Marshall if you kill one of the Native Americans the rest of the tribe will attack the citizens on the train. Later on the U.S. Marshall and the citizens try to take control of the train again.
One of the main characters are John Deakin is a U.S. Marshall who has a little anger problem is tall, lean, muscular, and is fit for his job. Another important character is the train conductor O’Brien. He is tall, kind of fat, and one of the best train conductors there is. He can drive with his eye closed.
John Deakin learned to keep his anger under control. When a group of Native Americans try to take over a train that you’re riding on don’t pull out a gun and try to kill one.
I was in elementary school when we had a lock down and it wasn’t a drill. This reminds me of a movie where they were stuck and couldn’t move till help arrived.
