Covert

by Bob Delaney
Non-Fiction
229 pages

Life in the Mafia can be a very stressful and confusing thing as Bob Delaney finds out here.

Bob Delaney was a New Jersey state trooper until an FBI agent offered him an undercover job to bring down the Mafia in New Jersey. Bob accepts and becomes part of the Alpha project, along the way Bob becomes attached to many of the people he meets in his new life, like Bob Kelly. After Bob Delaney’s adventure he seeks to live a normal life, he becomes paranoid and distant and retires from the New Jersey state troopers. To get away from everything he becomes an NBA referee and is still a referee to this day.

Bob Delaney is the main character and his personality changes through the people he hangs out with, by making him paranoid and looks over his shoulder a lot. Bob Kelly is an ex-criminal looking for a second chance by being an informant for project Alpha.

The lesson the character learned is “some people go through experiences, and others grow through experiences.”

I would highly recommend this book for anyone interested in the Mafia.
