Skye Hamilton is the eight grade alpha. She is picking out next years alphas. She starts a game where the selected people get a CD as an invitation it to the game. The Invitation is about about looking for this key to a secret room that is forgotten by most people. The Clique girls where one of the people chosen. It sounds easy enough? Well its not so much the key is hiding in a anonymous boys bedroom.
Massie is the leader of the Pretty Committee. She loves attention and being the best at everything. Massie is determined to find the so there is no one eles taking her spot for being next years alpha. She is also a very mean person. Her target also seems to be Claire. Claire is probably the more dorky one in the Pretty Committee. One of the reasons why Massie is so mean to her is because Claire got the role of "Dial L...For Loser"
The lison i think the girs learn was If you work hard at something you can succeed at it. Because the pretty commitee really seemed to work hard to find that key. They did whatever it took to get it as well.
I would compare this book to "Gossip Girl" but for younger teenage girls. I compare this book to "Gossip Girl" because they all live in New York and are rich living this care free lifestyle.
It's not easy being mean is one of the many books from the series The Clique. Over all this a pretty good book. But enjoyed the other books in the series a lot more. But this book is still a great book to get into.
