This website was conceived and is maintained at Buffalo High School in Buffalo, MN.

The website started as a place for our students to write reviews for books they wanted to suggest to others.  We also wanted it to be a place where potential readers could go to read reviews and look for books that others have liked.

Looking around on the web, we realized that there are lots of sites that let readers post reviews.  What was missing, however, was the back and forth conversation that is so important in getting others to read something you’ve liked.  This dialogue between readers is what we have tried to create on this website.

The Review section of Review and React lets a reader post a formal book review.  Please follow the format and suggestions that are posted on the Review page if you want to submit a review.  After submission, your review will be checked, approved  and then posted to the website, hopefully in a matter of days.  If your review is not posted within 3-4 days, 1 of 2 things have happened.  We may have received a large amount of reviews in a short amount of time, or your review wasn't written well enough to post.  Please refer to the "More" section of the "Submit a Review" page, make changes and resubmit.

In the Reaction section of the site, you can also react to any review you read here. Our hope is that someone will answer your reaction with thoughts of their own on a specific book.  If you choose to, just by checking the correct box, you will be notified by e-mail if someone reacts to your review.  Remember, agreement is not necessary.  It’s having the conversation that is important.
